Answering your questions

What happened to the old park equipment?

St. Catherine Church originally owned both the school and park equipment here in Oyens. When the church sold the school and land to a private owner, the new owner generously offered the park equipment to the city council.

Unfortunately, due to its age and insurance limitations, the city was unable to accept it, and the equipment was ultimately sold to a private buyer.

Why didn’t we buy the original playground from the school’s new owners?

The old park equipment was sold by St. Catherine Church when they sold the school and land to a private owner. While this decision was not made by our committee, we’re choosing to focus on the future and come together as a community to build something even better.

Where will the park be located?

The park will be on the northwest side of town, in that beautiful green space by our Well House. It’s a perfect spot for the new playground and future community gatherings. We have full approval from the DNR to build in this space.

Who designed the park, and was community input considered?

Yes - our design started with the voices that matter most: the children. We asked the children of Oyens what they wanted in a park, then researched the most effective, affordable way to bring their vision to life with safe, high-quality equipment.

Who will maintain the park once it’s built?

Once the park is built we will then transfer the equipment into ownership of the city of Oyens. From there, they will carry insurance incases of injury. We will continue to maintain the land to help the city absorb the cost of maintenance.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, we are a 501-c non-profit.
