In Their Own Words

A park would give my grandsons a safe place to play. They enjoy parks and it’s a great place to make new friends. They really miss playing on the park equipment that was at the school.

A place to gather with family and friends- memories

Annmarie Cherkas

Oyens Visitor

"As a mom raising two little ones in a small town with no playground, I feel the gap every single day. We play in the street, in the gravel, in front yards - because there’s nowhere else. And while we make the best of it, what we really need is a space that’s safe, fun, and made for them.

A park in Oyens would be more than just swings and slides; it would be a place where childhood memories are made, where neighbors become friends, where our community gathers and grows stronger. It would mean I could say “yes” to outdoor play without hesitation. It would mean my kids, and every child in town, finally have a place to belong.

This isn’t just about equipment. It’s about hope. About building something for the next generation. About showing our kids that they matter enough for us to create something beautiful, just for them."

Nicole Owen, Oyens Resident

As a parent and community member, I see firsthand how vital a park is - not just for fun, but for development, safety, and connection. Right now, Oyens has no public green space, no place for families to gather, and no safe area for kids to play outside of busy streets or gravel driveways.

A park isn’t just a luxury - it’s a basic need for any growing, thriving community. Building this park is a smart, long-term investment in the health, well-being, and future of Oyens. And with every donation, we’re one step closer to giving our kids the safe, enriching space they deserve.
